I'm looking to instal a Hurst short throw shifter in my 2008 Mustang GT. All the reviews I read on line look realy good and it looks pretty easy to install with the help of my son. Does anyone in the club have any personal experiences or opinions on doing this?
Thanks, Dave

Dave,
If you have some instructions, and some basic tools...........it'll be a piece of cake. I installed a Pro 5.0 shifter in my '89, and the hardest part of the whole job is actually GETTING to the shifter.
If you need any help let me know. Good Luck Jim

Thanks Jim. I found some really good instructions on line with pictures and it does look like a piece of cake. I think my biggest issue will just being able to get it up in the air high enough to get under it to work. I have a set of ramps but I've never tried getting the Mustang up on them.
I'll probably wait until spring when it starts to warm up a bit before I try it.

The new shifter arrived yesterday. I can hardly wait to get it installed and try it out. ;D

My son and I installed the Hurst Competition Plus short throw shifter this morning. It's AWESOME!!. The throw is even shorter than I expected and I love it. It's a whole new driving experience. I should have done it a long time ago. And it looks great too (like my '70 BOSS 302). I would recommend this shifter to anyone with a 2005-09 Mustang GT.

Super!!!! I think the shifter upgrade is one of the best bang-for-the-buck upgrades anyone can make to a mustang. Which one did you go with the billet alum or the welded tubular? Be sure to save the old shifter to put back in when you trade, the hurst will probably transfer over to a newer car when you are ready.

I went with the welded tubular one. I save all the original parts that I take off. That way when the car is 30 or 40 years old and the new owner wants to convert it back to original condition they will have everything they need.
