All, I'll be looking for new tires this spring for my 2003 GT and I am wondering if anyone could recommend a good brand/style tire? I'm leaning towards the Goodyear Eagle GT's (or F1's) but I guess BF Goodrich makes a good one too. - My wheels are stock 17", Sorry Jim I'm not at all happy with some Yokohama's we put on Tami's truck last spring so I don't think I'll go with anything from J.A. Pan & Company. Thanks! Rich

l have the goodyear f-1's on two cars. They wear like iron, but are not available in all sizes. Cost is fairly high also. Last set that I bought for a mustang, was BFGoodrich Super Sports. I caught a good sale at www.tirerack.com and they have been ok so far, but I have very low mileage on them right now. Derald.

Rich,
Are you looking to purchase a complete set or a pair?
Are you looking for just everyday driver tires or perhaps something that is more performance oriented?
Lemme know, and I can hook you up with my tire guy @ Discount Tires. Don't go to the new Loveland store. You'll need to go to the the store on Fossil Creek near Spradley Barr to get any deals.

Do you want summer tires or all seasons?
In Summer Tires, I have been happy with the Kumo Esta MX, on my second pair with on the Vette. Great in the summer and do well in the wet. I have driven them in the winter, (very dry pavement) and they are hard as rocks. Had Goodyear Supercars. Great on the dry, terrible in the wet.
My last SHO I ran some high performace All Seasons in the winter and summers for the summer. Since I have a 4x4, I figured I could get away from the snow tires for it. Worked great for me.

I'm a big Discount Tire fan, especially after Kevin and I trashed tires going to Gunnison a couple years ago. Their warranty is unbeatable. I agree on the comment to go to the Fossil Creek Store. I live about a mile from the Loveland store and still go to Fossil Creek for everything tire related.
I have BFG G-Force KD's on my Cobra and have been really pleased with them. The BFG letters translate to what the key (K) attributes are of the tire. My KD's are Key=Dry (not for rain or snow) KDW's are K= Dry & Wet (not snow). KDW's come in an original design and a 2nd design (KDW2) with a really neat tread pattern. Ben at Spradley runs KDW2's on his modified Focus and says he loves them. I ran KDWS (K=Dry, Wet & Snow) on a 3000GT I commuted to Denver with and they were really good in all weather conditions. They handled well, too. The KDW's and the KDWS's really wear well, also - you can check out thier wear ratings.

I ran KDWS on my first SHO. I was happy with them, did well in the snow, and seemed to handle well in the dry.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm glad to hear that Fossil Creek gets so many recommendations. I've bought 3 sets of tires from them over the past few years. They have always treated me well and I have no complaints. Jim, I'll be looking to get all 4, Mostly dry/wet summer tires with really good grip. I don't plan on driving on the snowy roads, My Stang is allergic to Mag-Chloride. I have Talon Triangle's on it now. I've never heard of them before and a web search turned up nothing. I like them a lot, They grip really well in wet or dry and they feel very positive in corners. The tread pattern is very similar to the Goodyear Eagle F1's. I put Goodyear GT's on my Regal GS and they seem to work pretty well for a sedan. The Goodyear's and BF Goodrich tires seem to have about the best user ratings on the discount tire website too. And I thought this would be easy! Thanks again!

I was very intrigued with the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2 but ended up with the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport two summers ago for my 2002 GT. After adding a fair amount of extra horsepower, I was concerned about grip but I have been very pleased with the grip and durability so far. They have been great for Autocrossing. Now that you have lots of opinions, check out the tires and all the reviews at www.tirerack.com just so you are confused a little more, then head down to DISCOUNT TIRE and make a deal. Ken

Rich,
Falken Azenis RT-615
That's the tire I'd recommend. Check 'em out.
Before you head down there to talk tires, let me know so I can get you hooked up with the correct individual.

Interesting comment on one store vs the other. I bought a set of snow tires for my previous car at the store here in Loveland, plus my neighbor has recently purchased two sets there. In each case, we each felt we were treated fairly, etc. I will be getting a new set of tires for my step-son's Subaru shortly and had planned to go to the Loveland store again, but now wonder if we can do better at the FC store.

I believe you go where you're the most comfortable. I've been dealing with the Fossil Creek store for quite a while, before there was a Loveland store. I'm a creature of habit I guess and just keep going there.

Yeah, you've got to go where you are comfortable and convenient. Building a good relationship with a reputable tire store and repair shop is very valuable.
Jim (89gt2nv) has an "inside" contact at the FC store, so it may be worth a few bucks to check the deal there.
Let us know what you decide on.
