Hi all
I went with a friend to Interstate Ford(I25&52) to test drive a new 2011 GT convertible. This is my product review on the drive. WOW, what a great machine. Hearing that 5.0 growl(or is it whinny) when you get after it on the on ramp to the interstate is incredible. The acceleration will put you in your seat. At first when I heard they were switching to electronic power steering to cut down on the parasitic loss traditional systems cause I was skeptical about how the car would handle and feel. Let me tell you, Ford did their homework on this. The steering is tight and actually feels like a manual in the respect that the wheel doesn't feel as touchy as my 66 w/power steering. It is very responsive though. We came across a shredded semi tire on the interstate as I was about to change lanes and the car responded instantly when I took action to avoid hitting it. 100mph comes pretty quick when you power through the gears(No the salesman wasn't with us ;D. I took it thru a 90 degree turn east of highway 66 on a dead end frontage road and while the posted speed was 35(I think) I took it at 60 and that car stayed flat, didn't protest, and wanted more. I have no doubt that you can make full use of the 160mph speedo with 6 gears and over 400 horses under the hood. The msrp on this baby was right up on $40k and that was with the Sync system, pretty wheels(I didn't care for them) and optional anti theft system with locking lug nuts. Yes that may be pricey but the included options were things I would want on the car. If you insist on the open sky sensation then you will pay for it but one drive in this beast and you will forget about the sticker price. All I have to say is "Come on Powerball numbers" I can only imagine what the new Roush Stage 3 cars are like now that they offer 540 thundering ponies under the hood with the Roushcharger
