Hi all Well my car is still in a timeout. It has been reassembled with a new radiator, fan, and waterpump. Now it would appear that I need a timing chain. The car doesn't want to run and when it does it is on the rough side. My bodyman and I did a compression check on it tonight to see what is going on inside. It came out at 75 lbs. which is abysmal. This could indicate a few things. First, that I have some tired rings or valves which would be evident if there was a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust and there isn't. This car runs too strong normally for this to be the case. The other distinct possibility is that the timing chain jumped a cog and my valves are open at the wrong times. The tentative plan now is to put in a new timing chain. Frankly, I am getting a bit tired with tearing into this engine again but if this is the case then oh well. I am thinking that if I have to tear into it then I may as well put in a better camshaft now as I don't want to tear into this thing again next year to do it. I may as well do it now when the front of the engine is in pieces. Do any of the more knowledgeable folks in the club have any advice on dealing with the vintage engine. Please please advise

Check out "How to rebuild small block ford engines" by Tom Monroe. My copy is really old, and well used, you are welcome to borrow it.
