Well, mama wants the car ready to cruise this summer, so I started in on the body work. Figured I'd tackle the worst of it first, so began with replacing the left rear 1/4 skin. Here's a shot of the rust. Attachments:

I hated to cut out so much good, unrusted metal, but it seemed like the way to go. My welding skillz are not that great. Plus, there were a few dents & dings that had been filled with bondo somewhere along the line. Sanding the old finish off revealed that the car had been re-painted 3 or 4 times... Attachments:

Coated the inside with Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator (similar to POR15). Attachments:

Welded on and weld bead ground down. Attachments:

A little USC Duraglass over the weld seam, then smoothed over with a bit of light weight body filler. Sprayed with PPG high build primer/surfacer. Next step will be to block sand prior to paint, but that will be done after the bodywork is finished. Now on to the other side of the car... ;D Attachments:

Nice set of photos and nice repair job! I think many of us remember rust in those notorious spots. Hope the "Other Side" turns out as well. Ken
