I would like to thank the Northern Colorado Mustang Club including us new people in the meeting last Saturday. I know it is hard to remember names (I have a terrible time at that) so I will reintroduce myself and a little of my background.
I am Wayne R Kayl and live in Loveland. My wife Laurel and I have 2 children (a daughter and a son), both of whom live in the Westminster. We moved here in 1992 from Minnesota after having grown up in northeast South Dakota.
I worked at a Ford dealership in the 70s when the Mustang II was the newest and greatest thing. I have owned 3 previous Mustangs, (2) 67 coupes and a 70 fastback, the last in 1977. I now have a 97 GT convertible. It is my wife’s daily driver, at least until the snow flies.
I have been into cars from a young age, my 1st car being a 1953 Ford Mainline 4 door that my dad bought at an auction for $22.50 when I was 16 (a fine automobile as you can imagine). He bought me a wrecked one also so I could make 1 car out of the 2. In the mid to late 70’s I had the pleasure to buy several muscle cars including a 71 Challenger R/T, 71 AAR Cuda, (2) 67 GTOs, 71 Nova SS, 67 Mustang with a 390. The cars I presently have (needing restoring) are a 61 Studebaker Lark VIII (owned since 1974), 67 Buick Skylark convertible (car we had when we got married in 1976), and my dads 59 Oldsmobile “98” (an actual “car in a garage for 30 years” last licensed in 1974). The Oldsmobile is going to be my project this winter.
I look forward to seeing you again when my work schedule permits.
P.S. I now can get the Mustang in the garage that looks full of "stuff" in the picture.
